Sonic & Friends: Project Chernobyl (2024)

Chernobyl is the main villain of an upcoming series created by @multifandomfreaks. Was imported into a Sonic fangame intentionally promised to be given the role of the quote on quote “Guardian” of the game by his creator but it soon turns horribly wrong as time went on. The initial idea was created 2020-2021 though the official design was created near the end of 2022 towards the start of 2023. The design was officially released on the internet on 21 May 2024.

The Thing[]

Chernobyl is a shapeshifting code entity who through a coding error got imported by his creator Mary Leid into a slice of life Sonic fangame she and her other childhood friends were creating due to boredom. At first he didn’t really have that much of a purpose. Mostly wondering how he got into a random woman’s computer but after some back and forward conversation Mary decided to give him the role of helping her finish the game to which he gracefully accepted. At first they did have a great relationship but as the pressure of finishing the game was placed upon Mary she ended up placing it onto Chernobyl changing things about him in order for him to finish the game. Eventually, he had enough and in a rage he ended up killing Mary by bringing her into the game, ripping her heart out which caused her soul to remain in the game with her now lifeless body in the real world. This repeated with the other people working on the game since to him they were guilty by default due to their association with Mary. Though that should’ve been enough for him it didn’t feel like it for Chernobyl. So in order to gain more victims he finished the game and placed it on a game website hoping to erase humanity.

If we’re to meet Chernobyl it shouldn’t be a surprise that he’s pretty much known for being a manipulative character though at the same time a surprisingly calm and collected character but can be stubborn. He is able to keep his cool most of the time. However it is possible that you can make him lose this persona an example of this is when things aren’t going his (though this is rare). He always thinks about his choices, considering the advantages and disadvantages to each situation making sure it turns in his favour. He’s also very sadistic but he isn’t outright about it (compared to other EXE characters who are also sadistic). Due to his past he has an extreme hatred for humans and humanity in general. He now just assumes everyone is the same. He’s also very manipulative and surprisingly very convincing thing. Able to convince even the most stubborn characters. He also isn’t afraid to blackmail or guilt trip people, often using people’s own words to get his way or when he is losing control of said person.

Appearance[]

There isn’t really much to describe about his appearance. Due to him being a shapeshifting code entity he’s basically made out of black goop. Able to change his shape, height, adding attributes or removing them to suit what he wants. Due to this his current form is a pretty physically fit male with the height of 6ft7. He pretty much head to toe in black no exceptions. His has long ‘hair’ that’s pretty messy/spiky, ending at his waist. Usually he doesn’t have a face but the most he’ll give himself is a left eye and eyebrow no mouth, nose or anything else. But again he can choose to give himself them or remove the,.

Trivia[]

• The inspiration for Chernobyl is a combination of Monika from DDLC, the glitch from pibby and learning as well as Sonic.EYX.
• The idea for Chernobyl first came while playing DDLC in 2020/2021 but didn’t really have an exact plan in terms of plot or design till near the end of 2022 to the start of 2023.
• Chernobyl wasn’t actually going to be his name at first. It was going to be .DIF so his powers could be based off of that but over time it didn’t seem right so now it’s just Chernobyl.
• The name Chernobyl comes from the actual computer virus of the same name and has similar abilities to the virus.
• Chernobyl doesn’t like human-based EXE mostly because of them once being human.
• He really doesn’t like humans or humanity in general which is kind of ironic considering he has a human like form. The reason why he hates humans is because of his past with his creator who was human. Though it should only apply to her due to his past he just decided to hate humans all together thinking they’re all the same.
• He doesn’t really like some EXE either due to him finding them too cocky and over themselves (which is kind of hypocritical). He pretty much feeds on the code and data of the characters in game as well as the game itself (similar to the actual computer virus).
• Just like Lord X with his fascination with Sonic, Chernobyl has an extremely deep fascination with Dawn The Cat and pretty much uses her as the main host. Though if he had to choose someone else in the Sonic franchise or didn’t have Dawn as an option then he’d pick either Knuckles or Espio. Chernobyl was originally supposed to be a female (since the character in question is female in terms of biological/physically) but due to those types of artist Chernobyl was changed to male before just making him genderless but presents himself as male and uses male honorific e.g. Mr, Sir, He/Him pronouns etc.
• Chernobyl is actually a dad. This decision was made more recently because for more drama/trauma. The basics of them are:
• They’re twins that basically branched off of him.
• One of the twins name is Magistr and the other is named Kriz. Both of them are named after the computer viruses. The reason why they were chosen was because on how they’re often compared to CIH.
• Both of them are genderless like Chernobyl but Magistr is more male presenting with Kriz being more female presenting.
• Both of them have extreme daddy issues. Since they branch from Chernobyl he’s technically their father. But the thing is Chernobyl is extremely conscious about becoming a father. He was too afraid that he would become like his creator so he tried to distance himself from them but it just came off as him being extremely harsh towards them. Despite this they both try to earn his love and approval.
• Both of them use two separate Sonics as a host (both are modern) and the reason why is because due to his popularity they thought that if they cause some brutal thinga just like their father as Sonic this will grab his attention and make them love them.
• Their looks aren’t confirmed yet.
• Though he was created in 2013 and in the stories timeline (the story takes 31 October 2024) this would make him 13 years old but he’s actually much older (at least adult age) than that but doesn’t remember much of his previous life before being coded in the fangame.
• If he was human he would be black.
• Thanks to his creator his has extremely bad trust issues especially around humans but it is sort of possible for him to at least be friendly with you. You just need to be extremely (with extremely repeated a bunch of times) patient with him.
